The food was very delicious !!

Nothing great. Not bad but there are a lot better places to go for a fish fry. Service was OK, nothing more. Not much to look at either. Used to be the restaurant for a resort that was there. Small salad bar but get everything you want on your first trip. If you are in the area looking for someplace to eat, I'd keep looking. But if you are tired of driving and need to stop, it's just ok

The food is delicius. Loved the homemade bread (and everything I have tried!). The dolar rooftop is hilarious and unique! A must go place!

Awesome place...full of character and great food. Excellent stop for breakfast on a motorcycle ride. The Weed Bed is highly recommended. You won't leave hungry.

Very good food but a long wait even have a waiting list

The waiter was awesome, gruff and dry but hilarious and engaging. The food was phenomenal! I love this place and it will be added to our list for yearly stops.

On any given day the breakfast here is marvelous. On any given day the breakfast here can take forever. On any given day the breakfast here is good.

The food here is unbelievably good the service was amazing the waiter really knew his stuff and surprisingly knew me.. had prime rib and eggs in the morning absolutely delicious!!! Well worth the wait!!

An utterly unique dining experience. The place is small and hard to find, the owner/waiter is crabby and droll, the menu is intimidating and difficult to figure out (lots of "rules ' for placing orders), there is no hostess (you sign in on a whiteboard and they seat you when they feel like it) and they make no promise of prompt service. But if you are willing to work with all of that, the food is pretty darn good. I think they only serve breakfast.

So so so good. Guaranteed you won't leave hungry.

Excellent breakfast! The crab eggs Benedict is the best I have ever had. The haystack with bacon and scrambled eggs with a side order of pancakes was also delicious. Recommend this restaurant. The staff is efficient and friendly.

Huge portions of food and tasty. Came back each day for breakfast. Definitely worth the stop. Don't forget to sign in, use a creative name, for some fun. Remember.....No sign, no seat, no eat!

Lots of fun! Great people! Had ham cheese mushroom spinach tomato omelette that was absolutely out of this world. Very fresh ingredients used!

Busy but worth the wait

Stopped for a cocktail and to warm up from our snowmobile ride. Denise was awesome; super friendly, great food and engaging conversations. A must stop, we’ll be back!

A personal favorite restaurant in the north woods. A part of me wants to write a bad review so less people show up and I dont have to deal with anybody.... also the bread is amazing.

Always a favorite stop on our trip up north! Food is humongous and delicious! We've only ever had the breakfast but love it. And always a good talk about hockey. My father showed us this place about 7 years ago and it's been a pilgrimage ever since. Sadly we lost him last year, but we keep the tradition alive and love this place.

Great food, great service! If you don't have a sense of humor - don't go!!

Great breakfast and fish fry

This is as unique a breakfast joint as you'll ever find in the area! We had a group of six, with everyone ordering different breakfast items. Everything was delicious! We arrived around 9, and this would be a peak time for them. Come early or be prepared to wait... But it's worth it!

Cozy Northwoods restaurant with homemade bread and the best breakfast anywhere.

Awsome food and hospitality....my daughter absolutely felt like dhe wad No. 1 when they opened a drawer full of candy and said pick something out. Thank you so much for putting smiles on all of our faces everytime we are here........God bless

First visit.. upon walking in we were greeted warmly and offered an bloody or drink of choice. Seated and served at a fast pace. Remember folks what is seen on the outside is rarely what you get on the inside.... food and service are amazing truly beyond expectations!

Selfishly I was reluctant at first to give this place a review because they are always busy in the summer. However, they deserve every single star. It’s one of my favorite breakfast places in the north woods. Get there early and don’t forget to sign up on the board in order to get in line for a table. Then get a Bloody Mary while you wait. The server is the host as well and once a table is clear they review the “sign up” board. I often get an omelette or eggs whenever I go out for breakfast but this place has the best bread and I sometimes switch it up when I come here. French toast orders are nearly an inch thick, as are the slices of toast. If you get fish fry on Friday you may even be able to smell the bread for the next day baking at the end of the night. Bottom line. Great food, inexpensive, large portions.

Try to get beyond the dusty window sills and gruff waiter, I heard owner, and you'll get a huge breakfast and great coffee. No one's perfect. It's the North Woods!

The food is always hot and fresh no matter what you order. Mike who will wait on you offers a sweet sense of attitude. Very knowledgeable and organized.

If you can’t give placid inn 5 stars u may want to go back to McDonalds for faster service and a McMuffin during season. Will make the wait shorter for those 5 star folks that love the place. If you want the best breakfast at fair prices in the North Woods this is the place. Try fish fry as well. Don’t forget to sign the chalk board with your name and have a Bloody Mary while waiting.

Wonderful food, atmosphere and waitstaff...

My favorite restaurant in the north woods. The staff is awesome, although they’re a little different than your average restaurant staff. The food is amazing and the portions are huge. I would definitely recommend the squirrels nest if you like eggs benedict. If you happen to stop by on a Sunday, get the prime rib.

One of the best kept secrets! We've been coming up here for over 20 years and just found out about this place. Food was amazing! Portions are quite large but absolutely delicious!

You have to have a good sense of humor for this place. Everything is taken seriously. And no, if you are first timers, I do not recommend.... you will be judged.

If you want to experience the best staff and amazing home cooking, you need to eat here! I swear it just gets better every time I go. All the food is made with love, like she's your mom too!

They act a little gruff when you come in, but it's a bit of an act. They care about good service and providing good food. We had a crabby eggs Benedict and a monte Crisco and enjoyed both. Add coffee and bloody Mary's and you have a perfect breakfast spot.

Really really good breakfast food. Atmosphere is great.. back there time and time again. A must stop if your in the northwoods. Just make sure to sign in when you get there.
